This is
most definitely written as a kids' book, but the content - parents
drowning and evil relatives and child abuse - was decidedly not kid-appropriate.
I did like the magic angle, but the denouement was ridiculously
outlandish. There will obviously be a second book, and I will NOT be
reading it.
